Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer level MID for the Data Center Services Windows SQL domain. The role focuses on reliability, performance, and scalability of Windows-based distributed systems and security services at a major intranet backbone.

Responsibilities include patching, STIG remediation, and coordinating with internal/external teams to maintain enterprise infrastructure. Work will occur at a customer site in a 2nd/3rd shift window to support mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience supporting Windows Server or enterprise IT environments.
• Current Security+ certification is required. The role requires the ability to work an afternoon/night shift, Tuesday through Saturday.

• Perform Windows Server patching, IAVA vulnerability remediation, and security compliance activities.
• Build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 systems.
• Support the full IT infrastructure lifecycle, including planning, installation, configuration, and administration.
• Ensure Windows Server platforms remain compliant with operational policies and security requirements.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operating system, infrastructure, and application-related issues.
• Perform STIG remediation and support ongoing cybersecurity compliance activities.
• Support critical enterprise applications and infrastructure in coordination with internal and external teams.
• Participate in projects and operational initiatives, providing technical analysis and recommendations.
• Exercise independent judgment within established processes to identify technical solutions.
• Evaluate technical situations and provide recommendations to improve system reliability and security.

Role Overview

An opportunity is available for a Site Reliability Engineer to focus on the reliability, performance, and scalability of complex distributed systems. This role involves responsibility for the core backbone of a major intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, engineering, and data transport.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Experience: Candidates should have 2–5 years of relevant experience supporting Windows Server or enterprise IT environments.

Technical Skills: Current Security+ certification is required. The role requires the ability to work an afternoon/night shift, Tuesday through Saturday.

Preferred Qualifications

• Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.
• Windows Server patching and IAVA vulnerability mitigation.
• Experience with Windows Server builds, including 2016, 2019, and 2022.
• Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) remediation and compliance.
• Experience supporting Windows platforms within a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Additional technical certifications related to Windows Server administration, cybersecurity, or cloud technologies are a plus.

Work Environment

Work will be performed at the customer location. The position requires the ability to collaborate with both internal and external teams while supporting mission-critical systems and services.
