Job summary

The University of Virginia Department of Computer Science is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join our team. The Systems Engineer will work independently or collaboratively on long-term projects, designs, and overall maintenance of the existing computing environment and related services.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and experience administering an enterprise deployment of Linux, with familiarity of Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience administering enterprise Linux deployments and cross-platform familiarity.
• Ability to configure and maintain Linux automation using scripting and configuration management tools.
• On-site presence in Charlottesville, VA as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
• Resolve accounts, applications, files, network, and other issues promptly.
• Maintain and upgrade infrastructure services and enterprise systems.
• Design configurations, workflows, and system integration procedures.
• Document deployed systems and perform OS installations and patches.
• Participate in test strategy development.
• Additional duties as assigned.
