Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA seeks a Systems Director (Engineering PM and Systems Engineering) to lead a cadre of engineers and scientists, advising government partners on next-generation space technologies.

This full-time onsite role requires a TS/SCI with polygraph, significant leadership, and a track record in hardware prototyping, space tech R&D, and strategic architecture. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits await.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in science, engineering, or mathematics.
  • 12 years of experience in space systems, technology development, or related field.
  • Experience with space technology research, development, and applications.
  • Experience with hardware prototyping and acquisition.
  • Technical leadership and team-building experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Willing to travel domestically ~10%.
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the acquisition of experimental CubeSats and hardware prototyping for capability development.
  • Provide strategic guidance for future space architectures to inform government technology investments.
  • Establish organizational objectives and communicate them to subordinates, management, and interfacing matrix organizations.
  • Cooperate and communicate frequently with senior government customers to coordinate and report progress, issues, and results.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and manage staffing, training, transfers, and other deployments; oversee security processes and safety awareness.
  • Develop and manage customer support plans to maximize impact within provided resources.
  • Collaborate across Aerospace and national security space partners such as USSF and IC.
