Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, Virginia, seeks a Systems Director - Engineering Program Management and Systems Engineering to lead the National Aerospace team, guiding technology investments and coordinating with NRO/DoD/IC partners on space sensing and processing capabilities from component to architecture level.

You will hire, mentor, and assess performance, oversee reachback support across multiple locations, and drive risk assessment and prototype testing to ensure mission success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, the physical sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 12 years’ experience in GEOINT sensing modalities and the technologies required to enable space-based sensing.
  • Demonstrated experience building, leading and participating in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to travel approximately one week a month.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a National Aerospace team responsible for guiding and enabling technology investments and evaluating contractor developments.
  • Prioritize development of next-generation spaceflight hardware and evaluate mission utility from component to architecture level.
  • Collaborate across the directorate, agency, and national security space enterprise to communicate key technical positions to stakeholders.
  • Evaluate technology development to identify risks and solutions to enable successful insertion of new technologies.
  • Provide reachback support from Aerospace engineering and lab resources to test prototype hardware.
  • Hire, mentor, and conduct performance assessments for team members.
