Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA (onsite) seeks an experienced Space Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering support for national security space programs. The role involves leading multidisciplinary studies and evaluating designs through key reviews, while mentoring junior staff.

Senior candidates will drive complex space vehicle design work, coordinate with government and contractor partners, and travel domestically as needed. Active Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science required.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in space systems engineering.
• Top Secret clearance required; able to travel domestically occasionally.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and working independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide space vehicle systems engineering support for customer programs, focusing on IC.
• Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary studies to assess space system designs.
• Evaluate feasibility of designs at milestone reviews (PDR, CDR).
• Mentor junior department members and establish high-performing teams.
