Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Austin, TX is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to own deployment of advanced fulfillment systems. You will collaborate with Fulfillment Center operations and product teams to design, test, and deliver complex automation solutions.

You will guide cross-functional projects, integrate hardware and software, and champion process improvements across sites. The role requires hands-on engineering across the full system life cycle, strong customer focus, and willingness

Qualifications

• Experience programming with at least one modern language (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• 2+ years control system experience including PLC/IPC based controls design, development, implementation and support
• Experience with automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, or systems including robotics
• Experience producing technical documentation (flow diagrams, conveyor layouts, install details)
• Understanding life-cycle embedded systems development (hardware, software, testing)
• Experience testing and implementing embedded software
• Industrial networking including TCP/IP and Fieldbus
• Experience with 3-phase electrical systems

Responsibilities

• Support installation of cross-functional projects with major impact
• Collaborate with internal/external teams to deliver high-quality projects
• Establish milestones, drive schedules and present KPI metrics
• Deep-dive into technical solutions for automation and material handling
• Participate in design reviews and coordinate with vendors
• Communicate status and provide clear project summaries to management
• Capture VoC for new product introductions and prioritize defects
• Build relationships with operations and engineering teams across sites
• Identify process improvements for deployment and engineering teams
• Travel up to 75% across North America
