Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to own deployment processes for advanced fulfillment systems. You will bridge Fulfillment Center Operations with product development, guiding complex system designs from lab to field.

The role requires building relationships across teams, owning the deployment lifecycle, testing solutions, and providing feedback to partners while supporting extensive travel across North America.

Qualifications

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• 2+ years control system experience including PLC/IPC based controls design, development, implementation and support. E.g. Allen Bradley, Siemens and CODESYS systems
• Experience with the designs of complex, automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, or systems including robotics (FANUC, ABB, UR) and high-speed manufacturing
• Experience working technical documentation such as flow diagrams, conveyor and equipment layouts, and installation details
• Demonstrated understanding of life-cycle embedded systems development including hardware (circuit and logic designs, PLCs), software (embedded operating systems and programming), testing and implementation
• Experience in testing and implementing software (embedded operating systems and programming)
• Experience in industrial networking and communications including topology design and familiarity with TCP/IP and Fieldbus applications
• Experience with 3-phase electrical systems

Responsibilities

• Support the installation of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact across geographies
• Work with internal and external engineering teams to deliver cross-functional projects of high quality
• Contribute to project priorities, milestones, and schedules to meet deadlines
• Deep dive technical solutions spanning controls and software for material handling systems
• Participate in design reviews and support execution with vendors on equipment specs and layouts
• Communicate project status with detailed summaries to program management
• Capture and synthesize Voice of Customer for new product introductions and prioritize defects
• Build relationships with Fulfillment Center/Sort Center teams across sites and stakeholders
• Identify process improvement initiatives for operations and deployment
• Develop cross-functional knowledge of operations and engineering processes
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions
• Travel up to 75% across North America
