Job summary

Athens City Schools seeks a System-Wide Instructional Aide to support instructional staff. This role involves assisting in upholding school rules, aiding in school operations, and maintaining confidentiality of student and staff information.

The position requires interaction with students, planning, testing support, and basic clerical tasks, while promoting a positive learning environment and safety for students.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with basic skills.
• Must have Associate’s Degree or 48 semester hours completed.
• Must complete WORKKEYS test per requirements.
• Adequate strength and dexterity for duties.
• Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
• Meet background clearance as required by Alabama statutes.
• Must hold and maintain an active ALSDE Substitute License.

Responsibilities

• Understand and uphold school rules, policies and procedures.
• Participate in efficient and effective school operation as directed by principal.
• Respect confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Foster positive student attitudes toward citizenship and self-discipline.
• Report for duty early and remain after school as required.
• Plan regularly and work with students individually or in groups.
• Assist the teacher in student testing activities.
• Keep charts/records of student performances and assist in preparing materials.
• Perform clerical tasks, inventory, filing and typing; operate audiovisual devices.
• Assist teacher with basic physical needs of students.
• Ensure safety and welfare of students at all times.
• Attend and participate in professional development activities.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with staff, parents, and community.
• Promote good public relations for the school system.
• Follow Board of Education policies and disclose confidential information as needed.
• Take on other reasonable duties assigned by supervisor.
