Qualifications

• Minimum 48 semester hours from an accredited college or an associate's degree.
• Must meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act and Act No. 2002-457.
• Basic ability to operate computer programs and related technology for teachers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in achieving instructional objectives.
• Work with small groups to reinforce or re-teach material.
• Support individual students needing special attention.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, remedial work as directed.
• Provide feedback on student progress to the classroom teacher.
• Assist with drill work, reading and storytelling as appropriate.
• Help check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work.
• Prepare instructional aids, bulletin boards, and displays.
• Set up and store audio-visual equipment for classroom use.
• Supervise lunch periods, field trips, and library activities as needed.
