Job description

UNC Health has an ambitious goal for its newly created System Vice President, Talent: build a more connected approach to talent across the health system and help ensure UNC Health has the workforce it needs for what comes next.

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this executive will lead across talent acquisition, workforce planning, talent development, succession, and internal mobility. Rather than managing these disciplines as separate activities, the System Vice President will connect them around a shared understanding of workforce needs and create stronger pathways for people to join, grow, and build careers at UNC Health.

There is meaningful work to build upon. UNC Health has advanced executive recruitment, critical-role hiring, and initiatives aimed at reducing turnover, vacancies, and premium labor costs. The next leader will take that work further by introducing greater alignment, visibility, and consistency across the system and strengthening the organization's approach to talent management and workforce planning.

The Research Triangle creates a particularly strong environment in which to do this work. Its universities, community colleges, academic partners, and healthcare training programs provide a deep ecosystem from which UNC Health can develop new and more sustainable talent pipelines. Just as important will be creating opportunities for existing team members to develop and advance.

UNC Health is seeking an experienced talent executive who has led at scale, improved complex processes, and used data and technology to make better workforce decisions. What distinguishes this opportunity is the ability to shape the model itself, connecting strong existing programs into a talent capability designed for the scale and future needs of UNC Health.

This full-time opportunity requires relocation to the area. Although designated as a hybrid role, the expectation is that the leader will work predominantly onsite and utilize remote work flexibility on an as-needed basis.
