This role provides strategic and operational leadership for recruitment, talent development, talent mobility, and coaching - ensuring the organization attracts, develops, and retains a highly engaged, mission-driven workforce.

The Vice President of Talent partners closely with HR executives, system executives, and clinical leaders to align talent strategy with organizational priorities, including quality, patient experience, growth, and financial performance, while ensuring all talent practices meet applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive, system-wide talent strategy spanning recruitment, development, mobility, and coaching, built to support current and future workforce needs across all entities (hospitals, clinics, ambulatory sites, and corporate functions). Serve as a strategic advisor on talent-related issues, trends, and risks. Use workforce analytics and labor market data to inform decisions across the talent lifecycle. Align talent initiatives with organizational priorities such as clinical excellence, patient safety, access, and growth.

Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Provide executive oversight of recruitment and talent acquisition across the system, including clinical, non-clinical, leadership, and hard-to-fill roles. Lead workforce and staffing recruitment plans that address short- and long-term needs - including nursing, allied health, and physician/APP recruitment - in partnership with medical staff leadership. Drive sourcing strategy, employer branding, and candidate experience that reflect the organization's mission and values. Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as time-to-fill, quality of hire, turnover, and cost-per-hire.

Talent Development & Leadership Programs: Lead the design and execution of talent development strategies that build critical capabilities at every level of the organization. Oversee leadership development programs for emerging, mid-level, and senior leaders, including succession planning for key roles. Scale enterprise coaching capability to support leader effectiveness and high-potential growth. Ensure robust performance management and coaching practices that drive accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. Foster a culture of learning, feedback, and career growth across the system.

Talent Mobility & Internal Career Pathways: Develop and oversee internal mobility strategy, creating clear career pathways for team members. Implement programs supporting internal transfers, cross-training, and redeployment in response to shifting patient volumes and service needs. Partner with HR Business Partners and operational leaders to move high-potential talent into critical roles, ensuring continuity and bench strength. Support succession planning and talent reviews to identify future leaders and critical talent pools. Ensure mobility processes are transparent, equitable, and aligned organizational goals.

Operations, Governance, & Compliance: Lead and develop a high-performing Talent team across recruitment, talent development, coaching, and mobility. Establish policies, procedures, and standards that ensure consistent, compliant talent practices system-wide. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and accreditation requirements (e.g., EEOC, Joint Commission, CMS, state licensing boards). Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts related to recruitment, learning, coaching, and talent technology. Report talent metrics, trends, and outcomes regularly to executive leadership and governance bodies.
