Job summary

Textron Aviation invites students to join our summer internship program in Wichita as a System Safety Engineer intern. You will work within cross-functional engineering teams on systems engineering, development assurance, and safety processes for aircraft systems.

You will support safety analyses, participate in certification planning, and gain hands-on experience with real programs under experienced mentors. This internship runs 10 weeks over late May to early August and requires on-site work.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or other STEM field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Time management to handle multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of System Safety Reports and hazard analyses.
• Assist establishment of Systems Engineering process planning and execution.
• Apply systems engineering methods to design, manufacture, and test aircraft systems.
• Ensure quality and integrity of system and safety deliverables per standards.
• Assist in preparation of certification plans, ground and flight test plans and reports.
