Mesilla Valley Transportation in El Paso, TX is seeking a System Installation Road Tester to verify the proper operation of installed equipment on trucks after system installations and repairs. You will perform road tests across highway, yard and urban driving, report findings, and ensure safety before/during tests; CDL required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of truck and 53-foot trailer experience.
• Possesses a current Class A CDL in good standing.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to remain calm, alert, and cope with stresses of traffic.
• Ability to take control of a situation and/or the vehicle as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform road tests on trucks after system installation, camera remounts, service work, repairs, or other assigned System Installation Team work has been completed.
• Verify that installed systems, cameras, wiring, mounts, sensors, and related equipment function properly under normal operating conditions.
• Observe vehicle performance during highway, yard, parking, and urban driving conditions, including braking, turning, backing, parking, and general handling.
• Identify and report concerns such as loose components, warning indicators, air leaks, abnormal noises, visibility concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety issues.
• Confirm that equipment is safe to operate before and during road testing and immediately stop testing when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Document road test results, deficiencies, corrective actions needed, and final pass/fail status according to department procedures.
• Communicate findings clearly with installers, technicians, drivers, and the System Installation Supervisor to support timely completion and release of units.
• Follow company safety rules, yard procedures, traffic laws, and applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations while operating company equipment.

The System Installation Road Tester is responsible for conducting road tests on trucks following system installations, repairs, camera remounts, and related service work to verify the proper operation, safety, and quality of installed equipment..

Work Environment:

• Indoor and Outdoor environment.
• Employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions including direct sunlight & heat.
• Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold and extreme heat.
• Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
