Job summary

Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) is seeking a dedicated Trailer Technician II in El Paso, TX. You will inspect, repair, and maintain trailers to meet company and OEM standards, while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and safety practices.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform necessary repairs, and document work in our maintenance system. A DOT certification and a valid high school diploma are essential, with Journeyman license preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years or more of mechanic experience and/or training.
• Trailer Mechanic must be DOT certified.
• Licensed Mechanic Journeyman preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair trailers according to company/OEM standards.
• Ensure equipment operates correctly and complies with DOT regulations.
• Perform DOT and general inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues across trailer components.
• Repair or replace tires following PSI, wear, and tread depth.
• Document completed work, including notes in maintenance software.

Join the MVT Team!!! Mesilla Valley Transportation is now hiring Trailer Technicians in El Paso, Texas!

Trailer Technician II repairs and maintains trailers to ensure operational efficiency and compliance, achieving recognition for key support within the team and promptly resolving issues as they arise under management direction.

Schedule:

Tuesday-Saturday 3:30pm-12:00 am

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and repair trailers according to company/OEM standards.
• Ensure equipment operates correctly and complies with Department of Transportation regulations.
• Perform DOT and general inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues across trailer components.
• Repairdamageto trailer panels, doors, hinges, floors, and axles.
• Weld and fabricate as needed for repairs.
• Repair or replace tires following company guidelines for PSI, wear, and tread depth.
• Conduct general fleet maintenance, including lights, air brakes, wheel ends, suspension, and other repairs.
• Document completed work, including 3Cs and notes in company maintenance software.
• Inspect and cleanparts,orderreplacementsas necessary.
• Verify proper equipment function post-repair.
• Use tools effectively to minimize downtime.
• Assist Trailer Supervisor withadditionaltasks asrequired.
• Maintain cleanliness in the work area.

Qualifications:

Work Environment:

• Indoor and Outdoor environment.
• Employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions including direct sunlight & heat.
• Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold and extreme heat.
• Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
