The Project & Solutions Engineer is a senior, hands‑on technical leader responsible for designing, scoping, and delivering technology change initiatives for both prospective and existing managed partners. This role serves as a bridge between Sales, Infrastructure & Technology, Projects, and Service Delivery—translating business and technical requirements into practical, support‑ready solutions. As an L3 engineering resource, this individual drives technical discovery, supports sales engineering, leads project implementation, and ensures all solutions meet industry standards, are fully documented, and are ready for long‑term operational support.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- Strongly preferred: Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, Azure, security, or equivalent infrastructure certifications
Work Experience
- 5+ years of hands‑on technical experience within an MSP, systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or professional services environment
- Proven L3‑level experience designing and implementing:
- Server and network infrastructure
- Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms
- Virtualization technologies
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Security and compliance‑aligned architectures
- Experience with technical discovery, solution design, scoping, estimating, and partner‑facing technical communication
Skills & Abilities
- Advanced troubleshooting and implementation skills across operating systems, networks, servers, cloud platforms, virtualization, and cybersecurity technologies
- Ability to translate business requirements into:
- Scopes of work
- Implementation plans
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate recommendations, risks, dependencies, and project requirements to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- High level of ownership, organization, documentation discipline, and cross‑functional collaboration
- Leadership and mentoring capability to support junior technical staff
Accountabilities
- Conduct technical discovery and convert requirements into standards‑aligned solutions.
- Develop solution designs, scopes of work, bills of materials, labor estimates, risks, and dependencies.
- Lead assigned projects through planning, implementation, testing, validation, and completion.
- Collaborate with Sales, Project Teams, Engineering, and Service Delivery to ensure successful execution and long‑term supportability.
- Configure and deploy server, network, Microsoft 365/cloud, virtualization, backup, and security technologies.
- Coordinate with vendors, carriers, cloud providers, manufacturers, and third‑party partners to support solution design and implementation.
- Maintain complete project documentation, diagrams, implementation notes, and handoff materials.
- Identify scope gaps, technical risks, and obstacles early and drive timely resolution.
- Support technical standards, automation initiatives, continuous improvement, and internal knowledge sharing.
