Job summary

Halvik Corp is seeking a seasoned systems administrator to maintain and optimize Federal government systems. You will oversee Windows Server, Azure, and Linux environments, ensuring high availability, security, and patch management across on-premises and cloud resources.

Responsibilities include monitoring performance, generating availability metrics, and coordinating with stakeholders to resolve outages quickly. A Public Trust clearance is preferred and required for this role.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree required.
• Minimum 8 years of experience supporting operation, administration and securing Windows Server, Azure and Linux.
• Strong hands-on experience with server configurations, software installations, and system updates.
• Azure-based solutions including high availability and scalability.
• Regular security reviews and compliance checks within Azure; automate cloud deployments and manage cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor cloud services for performance, cost, and security.
• Coordinate with development teams for system requirements and deployments.

Position Overview

Halvik is seeking a candidate who will be responsible supporting the maintenance and availability of a Federal government customer's systems in line with performance targets and report availability of systems and availability trends monthly. The candidate also will lead and coordinate production application troubleshooting efforts across stakeholder groups to enable timely resolution of application outages or issues and ensure effective communication of issue status and resolution across stakeholder groups.

Core Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain servers, disk space and use of memory, and adjust as necessary to ensure the efficient and secure operation of all servers, and report usage and utilization trends monthly
• Develop and maintain performance and availability metrics for NTIA systems and review and report on these metrics monthly as agreed with the Government
• Support on-premises and cloud-based servers/systems and applications, ensuring system performance, availability, and security.
• The system administrator should be able to handle following tasks:

1. Systems engineering and administration for Microsoft Windows Servers (on-prem and Azure based), Azure technologies as well as Linux servers/workstations administration (on-prem and Azure based)
2. Day-to-day operational management of servers and related application administration functions including version upgrades
3. Day-to-day operational management of servers and related application administration functions including version upgrades
4. Systems design and architecture (which may include but is not limited to optimization and virtualization activities)
5. Installation, configuration, provisioning and operations/management of Azure resources; patch management using Azure Patch Management, WSUS and SCCM
6. Software Configuration Management (SCM)
7. Change and configuration management activities for applications and databases
8. Support of annual system Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) activities
9. Systems documentation
10. 3rd tier problem response/resolution for Microsoft Windows servers on-premises and in Azure Cloud
11. IT applications, database and server security including vulnerability remediations
12. Incident response activities
13. Supporting VDI environment and VPN access through Microsoft Azure platform
14. Assist managing and resolving communications and networking issues and configuration details between customer work locations and offices

Minimum Requirements

• Education: BS/BA degree.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience supporting the operation, administration and securing of Windows Server, Azure and Linux.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with and ability to:
  • Server configurations, software installations, and system updates
  • Azure-based solutions, to include ensuring high availability and scalability
  • Regular security reviews and compliance checks within the Azure environment
  • Azure cloud services, to include ensuring optimal configuration and security
  • Automate cloud deployments and manage cloud infrastructure
  • Monitor cloud services for performance, cost, and security
  • Administer and optimize Linux servers for performance and security
  • Implement automated scripts for system maintenance and monitoring
  • Coordinate with development teams for system requirements and deployments
• Certifications: While not mandatory, possession will have more weight in consideration.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

• Demonstrated success supporting Federal contracts.
• Strong technical analysis and troubleshooting capability and skills; ability to elevate complex issues; strong technical documentation skills.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical risks and content into terms suitable for executive and government stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
