Job summary

Halvik Corp is seeking a seasoned Database Administrator to oversee the performance, integrity, and security of a Federal customer’s database systems. You will plan, develop, and maintain databases and troubleshoot user issues in a federal government environment.

Responsibilities include data modeling, performance tuning, data warehousing, and enforcing naming standards, with backup and restore processes. Requires active Secret clearance and a BA/BS plus 5+ years of relevant experience.

Position Overview

Halvik is seeking a candidate who will be responsible the performance, integrity and security of a Federal customer's database management systems. The candidate will also be involved in the planning and development and maintenance of databases, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

Core Responsibilities

• Model logical and physical data for database management systems
• Improve database performance through indexing and denormalization
• Develop data warehouses and marts for specialized data needs
• Enforce data naming standards and manage database logs
• Perform database backup, archive and restoration services

Minimum Requirements

• Education: BA/BS degree (or equivalent).
• Experience: Minimum 5 or more years of related database administration experience.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Ability to install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database software and applications.
  • Familiarity and/or hands-on experience with Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL-Server RDBMS software, tools and patches
  • Ability to add, create, update, modify and delete database users, as well as create and maintain standard user profiles for adding new users and create and maintain groups (profile of the group, members of the group) and profiles of the privileges possessed by those groups
  • Experience managing database security by assigning the authorized access privileges to users in accordance with established procedures
  • Ability to monitor and maintain all the customer databases, including such items as disk space consumed and use of memory, as well as database backup and recovery/restoration
• Certifications: While not mandatory, possession will have more weight in consideration.
• Must possess an active Secret clearance.

Preferred Expertise

• Demonstrated success supporting Federal contracts.
• Strong technical analysis and troubleshooting capability and skills; ability to escalation complex issues; strong technical documentation skills.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical risks and content into terms suitable for executive and government stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
