Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a cybersecurity or related field.
• 2–6 years of cybersecurity experience.
• Proficient in analyzing, monitoring and reporting cyber threats; capable of intrusion scope and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of SOC monitoring methods and technologies.
• Compliance with NIST, FISMA and related guidance; artifacts and configurations aligned with NIST SP 800-53 and FedRAMP.

Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating incident response activities with ISSOs, system owners, and cybersecurity personnel to contain, eradicate, and recover from cybersecurity incidents
• Developing, updating, and refining incident response protocols, procedures, and playbooks
• Conducting proactive incident responses to detect stealthy activity, anomalous behaviors, or early-stage malicious activity
• Performing forensic analysis, log correlation, and campaign mapping during and after incidents
• Providing recommendations to strengthen detection, response, and mitigation capabilities
• Supporting compliance with federal incident-reporting requirements

Position Overview

Halvik is seeking a candidate to provide technical and operational support for a Federal customer's Security Operations Center (SOC). The candidate will support enterprise security monitoring, incident response, and threat detection across a hybrid IT environment, including on-premises infrastructure and cloud services. This role provides advanced security analysis, and threat detection and engineering to strengthen organizational cybersecurity operations and continuous monitoring capabilities. The candidate will have hands-on experience with technical troubleshooting, remediation validation, incident follow-up, compliance reviews, platform administration, and operational security initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating incident response activities with ISSOs, system owners, and cybersecurity personnel to contain, eradicate, and recover from cybersecurity incidents
• Developing, updating, and refining incident response protocols, procedures, and playbooks
• Conducting proactive incident responses to detect stealthy activity, anomalous behaviors, or early-stage malicious activity
• Performing forensic analysis, log correlation, and campaign mapping during and after incidents
• Providing recommendations to strengthen customer's detection, response, and mitigation capabilities
• Supporting compliance with federal incident-reporting requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree.
• Experience: Two to six years of cybersecurity experience.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient is analyzing, monitoring and reporting cyber security threats. Capable of tracking investigation results and reporting on findings. Ability to perform intrusion scope and root cause analyses and assist with intrusion remediation, strategy development, and implementation. Knowledgeable with SOC monitoring methods and technologies.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with Federal cybersecurity regulations, including NIST, FISMA, and associated guidance. Ensure artifacts, assessments, and system configurations remain aligned with NIST SP 800-53 controls, FedRAMP baselines, Federal agency policy and directives.
• Certifications:
  • CISSP or equivalent Cybersecurity certification (e.g., Security+).

Preferred Expertise

• Demonstrated success supporting Federal contracts.
• Strong background coordinating with stakeholders (e.g., system owners, ISSOs, architecture teams, and cybersecurity leadership) to validate cybersecurity requirements, address information assurance concerns, and resolve compliance or security issues.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical risks and content into terms suitable for executive and government stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
