Job summary

Halvik Corp seeks an experienced network engineer to operate, administer, and secure a government network infrastructure. You will plan, test, and document network posture across on-prem and cloud environments, with a focus on secure connectivity and scalable architectures.

The role requires deep knowledge of network design, protocols, and security, including firewall, VPN, and cloud networking; experience with NetApp storage is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide SME guidance on network engineering research, design development, and client-focused tasks.
• Design, implement, and manage robust LAN, WAN, and cloud networks.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, identify root causes, and optimize performance.
• Plan and manage network security measures including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and ACLs.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure changes with minimal disruption.
• Monitor network performance and conduct periodic audits for improvements.
• Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and NetApp storage.
• Configure routing protocols, NAT, VPNs, and related connectivity.

Position Overview

Halvik is seeking a candidate who will be responsible for operating, administering and securing a Federal government organization's network infrastructure. This candidate will support planning, performing, testing, and documenting network posture to ensure proper and secure connectivity and operations within the customer organization's cloud environments and external connections. This role requires a deep understanding of network architecture, protocols, and security with a strong background in network design.

Core Responsibilities

Provides subject matter expertise to team and client on network engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with network design, engineering and customer specifications.

• Design, implement, and manage robust network architectures (LAN, WAN, and cloud networks).
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, identify root causes, and optimize network infrastructure for performance, reliability, availability, and scalability.
• Plan, implement, and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, access control mechanisms, and other network security technologies.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, migrations, and infrastructure changes while minimizing operational impact.
• Monitor network performance, availability, capacity, and health, and conduct periodic network audits to identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Implement and maintain network security measures in alignment with organizational security policies, standards, and applicable security requirements.
• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Palo Alto Networks firewall infrastructure, including firewall software, operating system and software upgrades, security policies, routing, access control lists (ACLs), NAT, VPNs, security profiles, logging, and related firewall configurations.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network routing protocols, routing tables, static and dynamic routes, and associated network connectivity to support enterprise network operations.
• Administer, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot NetApp storage infrastructure supporting company network and systems operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong subject matter experience in network characteristics analysis, design of network topologies and site configurations, installation, transition, and cutover of network components. Hands-on experience in the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform environment. Deep understanding of networking protocols and network security principles. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with cloud networking and routing. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience applying network architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Certifications: While not mandatory, possession will have more weight in consideration (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate or equivalent).

Preferred Expertise

• Demonstrated success supporting Federal contracts.
• Experience with a wide variety of network technologies and solutions architectures is a plus
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical content into terms suitable for executive and government stakeholders. Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
