AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a part-time switchboard operator to support patient, visitor, and staff communications at the Lake Underhill Rd facility. The role requires handling calls, updating on-call lists, and directing inquiries to the appropriate departments while maintaining a courteous, professional demeanor.

Responsibilities include answering calls, documenting activities, and applying service standards to deliver excellent patient-centered support in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• Reads, speaks and listens effectively
• Ability to type 30 wpm
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Bilingual skills preferred

Responsabilités

• Answer calls and forward to proper departments, patient rooms, or staff as needed
• Maintain an operational call log of all activities, requests and issues
• Update and maintain on-call lists for staff
• Provide excellent customer service and professional communication with patients, visitors, physicians and staff
• Demonstrate service standards and service recovery techniques
• Maintain calm and courteous demeanor in emergencies or with dissatisfied callers

Job Description: Schedule: PT/24 Hours Weekdays, Weekends need flexibility to cover 7am - 3:30pm and 3pm - 11pm as needed. Location: 7727 Lake Underhill Rd, Orlando, FL 32822 Projects a positive and helpful demeanor while working with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. Maintains a courteous and professional manner when answering calls. Demonstrates skill and proficiency when executing overhead announcements Updates and maintains all on call lists for staff when notified of changes. Forwards calls promptly to proper departments, patient rooms, or staff as necessary. Demonstrates communication skills appropriate for interactions with adolescent, adult, and geriatric callers, using service standards and service recovery techniques. Contacts key personnel after hours as needed. Maintains an operational call log of all activities, requests, and issues. Cultivates accurate knowledge of hospital disaster codes and announces them efficiently according to procedure. Provides excellent customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read, speak, listen, receive, understand, and disseminate communications effectively [Required] Competent knowledge in standard computer applications with an ability to type 30 wpm [Required] Capable of learning and retaining a vast amount of information including clinical terminology [Required] Adept in multi‑tasking in a high volume and fast paced environment [Required] Ability to work independently and to apply logical and safe decision making in communicating critical situations [Required] Embraces learning and adapting to frequent changes to data used to direct and manage calls [Required] Maintains calm and courteous composure when dealing with emergencies or dissatisfied callers [Required] Strong independent worker, critical thinking, and good judgement qualities [Required] Excellent oral and written communication skills [Required] Proficiency in MS Office products [Preferred] Bilingual skills [Preferred]

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent [Required] Field of Study: N/A

Work Experience: 1+ related work experience as a switchboard operator or in customer service field [Required]

Pay Range: $15.30 - $22.95
