RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a part-time Switchboard Operator for the RWJ Hamilton facility. The role handles incoming/outgoing calls, monitors paging systems, and ensures reliable telephone operations.

The candidate will respond to emergencies, relay information to authorized recipients, and support department improvements as part of IT&S Telecommunications. The position requires a high school diploma and at least one year of switchboard experience, preferably in a hospital setting, with

Responsibilities

• Relays incoming and outgoing calls, monitors telephone and paging systems, and ensures equipment is in good working order.
• Monitors emergency alarms and communicates information to authorized recipients.
• Operates paging system and notifies relevant personnel during emergencies per institutional policies.
• Collaborates on PI initiatives to improve Communications department services.

Job Overview:

Relays incoming and outgoing calls, monitors operations of telephone and paging systems, and ensures that telephone equipment is in good working order and that problems are reported. Monitors emergency alarms. Communicates medical and other information to authorized recipients; operates the paging system; sounds alarms and announces medical codes; disasters, and other emergencies in accordance with institutional policies. Works cooperatively on PI initiatives to improve Communications department for the organization.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma
• At least one year work experience in switchboard communications (preferably in an acute care hospital)
