Job summary

Metals USA, Gregor Technologies Division, in Torrington, CT, is seeking a CNC Swiss Turning Machine Operator for 1st shift. Responsibilities include setting up and operating Swiss/Nomura machines, reading GD&T blueprints, and producing parts to print.

You will translate drawings into machine commands, program lathes, load materials, conduct first runs, and maintain quality throughout production. Strong precision and math skills required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings & documents, blue prints
• Ability to read a measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and gauges
• Two year technical degree and/or apprenticeship; NIMS certificate preferred

Responsibilities

• Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, and GD&T
• Prepares and operates CNC machine with program, tools and material
• Translates instructions into computer commands for machine operation
• Programs lathes by entering instructions and setting tooling
• Sets-up mills and lathes including chucks, tools, and attachments
• Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto machines
• Operates production equipment to meet production needs
• Performs daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment
