Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Production Resource Specialist to oversee production across swine units onsite in Missouri. You will manage financial and production performance, supervise farm managers, ensure biosecurity, and enforce environmental and safety policies.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, with on-call duties and a 45-hour workweek on a schedule that may include weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading, training, coaching, or mentoring staff on projects or processes.
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to work an average 45 hour week, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• On-call for emergencies such as power outages or environmental issues.
• Strong math skills to evaluate production and financial performance and make decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn, understand, and implement Biosecurity policies and procedures.
• Follow SIPS safety requirements and environmental policies.
• Evaluate farms’ performance and outline improvement plans.
• Inspect animals and provide care as needed, including medication decisions.
• Monitor animal movements and manage data for market sales and closeouts.
• Develop farm managers and employees through training and coaching.
• Adhere to EMS and environmental laws and company procedures.
