Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a production management leader to oversee swine unit operations across multiple locations. You will drive financial and production performance, ensure biosecurity and safety, and develop farm staff to improve procedures and compliance.

The role requires coordinating with contract growers and managing schedules and market weights. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Animal Science with 2+ years relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience
• Experience leading, training or mentoring staff
• Must have a valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Able to work an average 45 hour week; weekends/evenings/holidays as needed
• Prod Spec 1 program or 2+ years swine experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage production of all assigned swine units and coordinate operations
• Oversee financial and production performance for locations and contract growers
• Ensure biosecurity, safety and environmental compliance across worksites
• Develop farm managers and employees to improve production and procedures
• Schedule animal movements and monitor overall farm performance
• Handle market sales at target market weights and analyze losses/variance
