Job summary

Lake Superior YMCA in Duluth, MN is seeking a Part-time Regular Leader to provide direct leadership and instruction in swimming classes, with lesson plans prepared in advance.

You will train class aides, build positive relationships with students and parents, maintain attendance and progress records, and follow safety procedures in a pool environment.

This role offers a part-time schedule seven days a week pool hours, opportunities for private lessons, and YMCA benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid, and Oxygen (preferred).
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent preferred or Obtain YMCA Swim Instructor certification within 6 months through the YMCA.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons, prepared lesson plans; trains and supervises class aides.
• Builds authentic relationships with students and parents; encourages parent involvement and refer to other programs.
• Maintains required records (attendance, progress reports, etc.).
• Follows YMCA policies and safety procedures; completes incident/accident reports as needed.
• Organizes and stores class equipment; reports damaged equipment.
• Opportunity for teaching private swim lessons when available.
• Fosters an inclusive environment and supports equity and diversity.
