Job summary

The Lake Superior YMCA in Hermantown, MN is seeking a part-time swim instructor and lifeguard to lead swimming lessons and supervise class aides with prepared lesson plans and a focus on safety.

You will build relationships with students and parents, maintain attendance and progress records, and uphold YMCA policies. This role offers growth opportunities, employee perks, and required CPR/AED/Lifeguard certs within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid, and Oxygen (preferred).
• Demonstrate swim instructor skills per YMCA standards.
• YMCA Swim Instructor v6 Certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons with prepared lesson plans and trains class aides.
• Builds relationships with students and parents; connects families to YMCA programs.
• Maintains attendance and progress records.
• Follows YMCA safety policies; completes incident/accident reports as needed.
• Organizes class equipment and reports damaged items.
• Potential to teach private swim lessons as available.
• Fosters inclusive environment and equity within the Y.
