Job summary

RTX is seeking a Sustainment Automation Systems Engineer to join the Industry 4.0 – CFIA team in Tucson, AZ. You will develop and sustain automation solutions across robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems integrated with Ignition and business systems.

The role requires a strong background in control systems, PLC/HMI programming, and robot programming, with travel up to 25%. Active interim security clearance or eligibility is required for this U.S.-based position.

Qualifications

STEM degree with 8+ years of relevant automation experience.
Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date.
Experience integrating control systems (actuators, sensors, controls, robotics, and vision systems).
Experience with PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell preferred).
Experience programming robots (Fanuc preferred).

Responsibilities

Provide troubleshooting and debug support for 30+ custom robotic systems in manufacturing.
Provide technical leadership through issue resolution.
Integrate software and hardware to create or upgrade automation solutions.
Coordinate TPM, spares management, and production sustainment with factory leadership.
Support production prove-in of new automation equipment.
Contribute to the overall manufacturing technology strategy.
