Job summary

RTX is seeking a Sustainment Automation Systems Engineer (ASE) to advance the automation in our Industry 4.0 CFIA initiatives in Tucson, AZ. You will sustain, develop, and implement automation solutions across manufacturing, including robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, with Ignition-based integration.

You will lead troubleshooting, integrate hardware and software, coordinate TPM, and support new equipment proves; travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in science/engineering with significant experience in automation.
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret DoD clearance before start date.
• Experience with integrating control systems (actuators, sensors, robotics, vision).
• Experience with PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell preferred).
• Experience programming robots (Fanuc preferred).
• Managed medium to complex automation projects successfully.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and debug for 30+ robotic systems in the factory.
• Provide technical leadership through issue resolution.
• Integrate software and hardware to create or upgrade solutions.
• Serve as liaison for TPM, spares management, and production sustainment.
• Support production prove-in of new automation equipment.
• Contribute to the overall manufacturing technology strategy.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
