RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Sustainment Automation Systems Engineer to lead the sustainment, development, and deployment of automation solutions in manufacturing. You will work with robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, integrating them with Ignition and business systems to keep production running smoothly.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, technical leadership, and collaboration with factory leadership, TPM, and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or 5+ years with an advanced STEM degree.
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance before start.
• Experience integrating control systems (actuators, sensors, robotics, vision).
• Experience with PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell preferred).
• Experience programming robots (Fanuc preferred).
• Experience managing medium to complex automation projects.

Responsabilités

• Provide troubleshooting and debug support for 30+ custom robotic systems in the factory.
• Provide technical leadership through issue resolution.
• Integrate software and hardware to create or upgrade automation solutions.
• Coordinate TPM, spares management, and production sustainment with factory leadership.
• Support production prove-in of new automation equipment.
• Contribute to the overall manufacturing technology strategy.
