Job summary

Emerson’s Professional Tools in Rockford, IL is seeking a Product Engineer to support existing product lines, develop new features, and drive cost reductions. You will collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and product management to deliver reliable solutions and improved customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include root cause analysis, sustaining engineering, design and process improvements, and hands-on prototyping with documentation in PLM/ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience in design and development of mechanical and/or electromechanical products.
  • Hands-on approach with prototypes and test equipment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solid Edge/SolidWorks or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve field complaints and production issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Lead sustaining engineering projects involving redesigns, product improvements, supplier changes, validation, and cost reduction.
  • Develop and implement design and process improvements to enhance quality and manufacturability.
  • Plan, conduct, and oversee product testing and validation.
  • Maintain engineering documentation in PLM and ERP systems.
  • Review and approve substitutions and production deviation requests.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and product management to implement solutions.
