Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Sustaining Engineer to support and improve existing product lines within the Professional Tools business. You’ll address field concerns, enhance product quality, and reduce costs through engineering solutions, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and subject matter experts.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Analyses, develops, and recommends design approaches to meet requirements for new or improved products.

  • Ensure accurate implementation and documentation of engineering changes in PLM and ERP systems.
  • Support sustainability initiatives aligned with Emerson goals.
  • Provide engineering support for products requiring regulatory or agency approvals.
  • Assist with substance compliance projects through technical expertise.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to solve problems and manage a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Analyzes, develops, and recommends design approaches to meet requirements for new or improved products.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidEdge, SolidWorks).
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, forging, and forming.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical fundamentals, including heat treatment and material properties.
  • Familiarity with a stage-gate New Product Development process.
  • Awareness of regulatory standards for tools (e.g., IEC 62841).
