Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Propulsion for Survivability - NG Fellow 1 to lead advanced propulsion survivability efforts onsite in Redondo Beach, CA and other locations. The role requires vision, program leadership, and collaboration across sectors to advance survivability technologies.

The candidate will guide design, modeling, validation and integration, mentor engineers, and interact with government customers and sector leadership to drive future opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelors, Master’s, and/or PhD in a relevant STEM degree; 20 years with a BS or 18 with an MS/PhD
• Significant experience with propulsion design including materials modeling and signature characterization
• Extensive knowledge of aircraft contributors to survivability and the design trade space
• Experience in verification and validation of survivability designs through full-scale vehicle or flight testing
• Experience working with adjacent disciplines in the airframe design process and defending a survivability posture
• Experience with Manufacturing to improve the production process for survivability materials and technologies
• Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance to start and ability to obtain Top Secret/SAP if needed

Responsibilities

• Support multiple programs and sector initiatives in a leadership or advisory role
• Develop and maintain the NGAS Survivability Propulsion vision and roadmap for integration of internal and supplier technologies
• Participate and occasionally lead independent review teams
• Special assignments to uncover and resolve complex challenges
• Develop and mentor the next generation of engineers in discipline
• Act as a thought leader for the Survivability community across sectors
• Advise management on technical research, applications and long-range business planning
• Engage with the U.S. DoD Survivability community to facilitate engagements and partnerships
