Arora and Associates, PC is seeking a Survey Technician for our Land Surveying Department in New York City, NY. The role combines fieldwork with office tasks and requires strong technical and computer skills in a collaborative team setting.

You will assist in planning survey crews, manage data, and prepare reports while working with CAD staff to produce final deliverables. The position includes overtime and travel as needed, with competitive hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience performing field survey tasks.
• Experience operating survey equipment such as total stations, data collectors, levels, and GPS.
• Proficiency with survey data software and data downloads.
• Experience with point cloud data extraction and analysis.
• Familiarity with MicroStation, InRoads or AutoCAD Civil3D.

Job description

Arora and Associates, PC is seeking a Survey Technician to join our Land Surveying Department in New York City, NY. Applicant must be a responsible, motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong technical and computer skills, and able to work in a team environment in the office and in the field.

DUTIES

• Assist in planning, organizing and directing survey crew work
• Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed
• Reduce field notes
• Supervise the maintenance of instruments and equipment
• Reduce and analyze GNSS data for control networks
• Import field and analyze field data
• Register and extract data from point clouds
• Adjust conventional traverse and digital level data
• Prepare control and survey reports
• Prepare survey related plans meeting department and client specifications
• Coordinate with CAD technicians, other surveyors, and department manager to prepare the final deliverable

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Three to five years of experience doing the following:

• Operation of survey equipment such as total stations, data collectors, levels and (GPS)
• Using software to download survey data from data collectors
• Using survey adjustment software (Trimble Business Center and Leica Infinity)
• Analyzing and extracting data from point clouds
• Using Microstation with InRoads or AutoCAD Civil3D
• Route surveying using various methods
• TopoDOT experience preferred.
• Familiar with NYCDOT, NYSDOT, PANYNJ or similar state agency survey standards
• Familiar with USGS and NGS survey standardsProficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to work on construction sites in NY weather
• Willing and able to work overtime and to travel for out-of-town assignments
• A valid driver's license

COMPENSATION

$35-45/hr.
