Job summary

Arora and Associates, PC is seeking a Licensed Land Surveyor to join our Land Surveying Department in Lawrenceville, NJ. The candidate should be a responsible, motivated, and detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills to work in a team environment.

You will plan, coordinate, and manage survey operations for infrastructure projects involving bridges, highways, and transportation corridors in NJ, overseeing field crews and ensuring data accuracy through QA/QC processes while

Qualifications

  • Professional Survey License in New Jersey.
  • 5-10 years of progressive surveying experience in the transportation sector including field work.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency with surveying software such as Trimble Business Center and Leica Infinity.
  • Familiarity with surveying and CADD standards of NJ, NY region transportation agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance (SWAC, TWIC, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage survey operations for infrastructure projects involving bridges, highways, and transportation corridors in NJ.
  • Oversee field crews performing data acquisition using GNSS-RTN, conventional total stations, and mobile LiDAR.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, and internal teams to define survey scopes, deliverables, schedules, and technical requirements.
  • Develop and review project-specific survey methodologies compliant with NYSDOT, NJDOT, and local standards.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of collected data via field QA/QC processes.
  • Establish and verify survey control networks and integration with state plane coordinates.
  • Create and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Support data processing workflows including point cloud registration and deliverable preparation.
  • Prepare technical documentation for design teams and clients.
  • Maintain communication with regulatory agencies and stakeholders on access, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Mentor and train field and office staff in advanced survey techniques.

Job description

Arora and Associates, PC is seeking a Licensed Land Survey to join our Land Surveying Department in Lawrenceville, NJ. Applicant must be a responsible, motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills and work ethic to work in a team environment.

DUTIES
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage survey operations for infrastructure projects involving bridges, highways, and transportation corridors in NJ

Oversee field crews performing data acquisition using:

  • GNSS-RTN for control and positioning
  • Conventional total stations for precise measurements
  • Mobile LiDAR for roadway corridor and asset mapping
  • Terrestrial laser scanners for detailed bridge and structure scans
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, and internal teams to define survey scopes, deliverables, schedules, and technical requirements
  • Develop and review project-specific survey methodologies that comply with NYSDOT, NJDOT, and local standards and specifications
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of collected data by implementing field QA/QC processes and reviewing preliminary data
  • Establish and verify survey control networks, ensuring proper integration with state plane or project-specific coordinate systems
  • Create and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring efficient deployment of personnel and equipment
  • Support data processing workflows, including point cloud registration, surface generation, and deliverable preparation
  • Prepare technical documentation, such as field reports, control summaries, and survey memos for design teams and clients
  • Maintain communication with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and clients regarding access, safety, and compliance requirements
  • Monitor and enforce field safety procedures, including adherence to MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) plans and site-specific safety protocols
  • Mentor and train field and office staff in advanced survey techniques and technology best practices
Manage project deliverables

  • Stay current on industry technology and standards, including advancements in LiDAR, GNSS, and NJDOT specifications
  • Prepare and Review ROW documents and descriptions for the NJDOT.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Professional Survey License in New Jersey.
  • 5-10 years of progressive surveying experience in the transportation sector including field work
  • Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD, MSWord, and Excel
  • Proficiency with surveying software such as Trimble Business Center and Leica Infinity
  • Familiarity with surveying and CADD standards of NJ, NY region transportation agencies

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES AND VALUED SKILLS

    • Right of Way Surveys and documents
    • GIS Data Acquisition and Management
    • Geodetic Survey/Use of GPS equipment
    • Familiarity with large point cloud data and data extraction
    • Hydrographic Surveys
    • Project Planning and Scoping
COMPENSATION

Compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
