Job description

Blew & Associates, P.A. is a premier national land surveying, engineering, and environmental firm with over 130 years of experience. We are seeking a Survey Crew Chief to support our growing client needs in the Pacific Northwest. Location is flexible to Portland, Seattle, or the surrounding area. The candidate will oversee on-site survey work and ensure quality control of survey deliverables.

Responsibilities
  1. Collect data to complete projects, including:
  • Locating boundaries, pins, improvements, utilities, etc., across various survey types such as ALTA, boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys.
  • Check, reduce, and process raw field data, perform calculations, and manage survey data files.
  • Conduct project research as needed.
  • Follow instructions and work orders from project managers.
  • Communicate daily with the Field Project Manager regarding schedule progress and notify if behind or ahead of schedule.
  • Work in demanding environments:
    • Navigate rugged terrain safely in remote areas.
    • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, or muddy conditions, and at high or precarious locations.
    • Transport and handle heavy equipment, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
    • Travel regionally and nationally as needed.
    • Work overtime, including weekends, when required.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot survey equipment in the field.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • At least 3 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
    • Strong knowledge of surveying concepts and practices.
    • Proficiency with survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
    • Part 107 license preferred but not required.
    • Familiarity with CAD software like Carlson AutoCAD is a plus.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in teams, delivering quality work on time and within budget.
