Blew & Associates, P.A. is a premier land surveying, engineering, and environmental firm with over 130 years of experience. We are seeking a Survey Crew Chief to meet the growing needs of our clients in the Pacific Northwest. The location is flexible within Portland, Seattle, or the surrounding areas. The candidate will oversee survey work in the field and ensure quality control for survey deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Collect data to ensure project completion, including:
- Locating boundaries, pins, improvements, utilities, etc., across various project types such as ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, construction staking, and topographic surveys.
- Checking and reducing raw field data, performing calculations, and managing survey data files.
- Conducting project research as needed.
- Following instructions and work orders from project managers.
- Communicating daily with the Field Project Manager about progress and schedule adjustments.
Work environment demands:- Navigate rugged terrain safely in remote areas.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and muddy conditions, often at high or precarious locations.
- Transport heavy equipment to various sites, including lifting/moving up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Travel regionally and nationally as needed.
- Work overtime, including weekends, as required.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and team members.Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.Maintain and troubleshoot survey equipment in the field.Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
- Strong knowledge of surveying concepts and practices.
- Proficient with survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Part 107 license is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with CAD software, especially Carlson AutoCAD, is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.
