Job summary

JMT is seeking a field survey professional to lead daily survey tasks, manage the crew, maintain equipment, and liaise with clients. The role involves operating Trimble and GPS equipment, performing stakeouts, and tracking project progress.

Qualification includes 5+ years in field surveying, a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel. Outdoor work and occasional night shifts are expected.

Qualifications

  • Must pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Valid driver’s license required and able to pass a background check.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • 5+ years of field surveying experience including data collection and GNSS surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Perform control, boundary, and topographic surveys.
  • Operate and supervise survey equipment (Trimble, digital levels, robotic total station, GPS).
  • Perform construction stakeout computations for tasks.
  • Track job progress and communicate daily progress to the office.
  • Complete data collector maintenance and coordinate stakeout services.
  • Communicate crew progress toward project goals with office staff.

Position Summary

Responsible for the overall completion of the daily survey tasks, crew management, equipment and vehicle maintenance, and communication with office staff and clients.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Perform control, boundary, and topographic surveys
  • Operate and supervise the use of all survey equipment including electronic data collectors (Trimble), digital levels, robotic total station, GPS and survey vehicles.
  • Performs construction stakeout computations necessary for the completion of task assignments
  • Tracks job progress
  • Completes data collector maintenance
  • Coordinates information for stakeout services
  • Communicates the daily progress of the crew towards the project goals and/or accomplishments with the office staff

Compensation for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Required Skills
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in field surveying techniques, including data collection, traverse adjustments, and GNSS surveys.
Preferred Experience
  • FAA 107 drone pilot's license
  • Familiarity with Trimble Access
  • MDOT, DelDOT, PennDOT, VDOT experience
  • Tree identification
  • Experience with construction stakeouts
  • Familiarity with third party software for data reduction and drafting, including Microstation & AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Subsurface Utility Designation and/or Test Holes
  • Experience with LIDAR scanners
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a field environment 95% of the time, where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.

Some Travel Required.
Some night shift work required.
