Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Surveying Technician II to collect field surveying data and operate survey instruments on active field crews. The role focuses on accurate field data capture and instrument maintenance in dynamic outdoor conditions.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of relevant experience, a high school diploma, and valid driver’s license, with the ability to pass background checks and vehicle screening. TN visa options may apply in rare cases.

Qualifications

  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Valid Driver’s License Required.
  • Able to pass Background Check.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills in mathematics and coordinate geometry.
  • Familiarity with total stations, data collectors, and GPS.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations and angles.
  • Perform boundary, topography, ATLA, right of way, and route, control, and construction surveys.
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total station, GPS, and survey vehicles.
  • Record accurate and clear field notes.
  • Document assignments.
  • Perform calculations.

Position Summary: JMT is seeking a Survey Tech II to be responsible for collection of field surveying data, and operation of specific survey instruments for the field crew.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Compensation for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25lbsas needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
