Your Impact at SAM

The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for managing the daily field operations of a land survey crew, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism. This role requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong commitment to quality and client satisfaction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Field Operations Management : Plan and oversee field surveys, including primary control, construction layout, and as-built surveys, ensuring the most efficient methods for data acquisition

  • Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of work performed, including sketches, daily reports, timesheets, and other required documentation

  • Collaboration : Communicate regularly with the Project Surveyor and technicians to align with project schedules and monitor work progress

  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction : Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, landowners, and other stakeholders

  • Technical Proficiency : Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications to ensure all work meets required tolerances and standards

  • Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance : Ensure land surveying vehicles and field equipment are properly maintained and operational

  • Adaptability : Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and team success

What You Bring to SAM

  • Competent operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs

  • Experience with Trimble equipment is preferred

  • Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude

  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time

  • Ability to work in all-weather climates

  • Ability to walk long distances through a variety of terrains and carry up to 80lbs

  • Valid driver's license, clean background check and drug screening
