Colliers Engineering & Design in Norfolk, VA seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead field crews, coordinate activities, and ensure precise data collection on a variety of projects. This leadership role requires oversight of crew members and a strong focus on accuracy and safety on site.

Ideal candidates have extensive field survey experience, including time as a Party Chief, and are proficient with data collectors, total stations, and 3D scanners. Travel and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• 10 years of field survey experience and at least 5 year of experience as a Party Chief, or equivalent knowledge.
• Strong understanding of Survey and Mapping specifications and standards.
• Construction stakeout experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
• Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.

In this leadership position, you’ll manage and coordinate field activities, oversee crew members, and ensure precise data collection across diverse environments. Responsibilities

• This position may include work as leader of a two- or three-member crew and in some instances a one-person crew.
• Projects include: ROW surveys, utility surveys, 3D scanning, Horizontal and vertical control surveys, construction layout, residential and commercial properties, Topographic surveys, aerial ground control surveys, Boundary and ALTA surveys.

Qualifications

• 10 years of field survey experience and at least 5 year of experience as a Party Chief, or equivalent knowledge.
• Strong understanding of Survey and Mapping specifications and standards.
• Construction stakeout experience strongly preferred.
• Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
• Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
• Candidate must be a self-starter, with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather.
• Willingness to travel is a must.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
