Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations and ensure precise data collection across a range of projects.

You will manage crews, coordinate field activities, and enforce safety and accuracy in ROW, utility, 3D scanning, boundary and ALTA surveys.

Candidates should have extensive field experience, be self-motivated, travel-ready, and proficient with surveying instruments including total stations and 3D scanners.

Qualifications

• 10 years field survey experience and at least 5 year of experience as a Party Chief.
• Strong understanding of Survey and Mapping specifications and standards.
• Construction stakeout experience strongly preferred.
• Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
• Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
• Candidate must be a self-starter, with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather.
• Willingness to travel is a must.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

• Projects include: ROW surveys, utility surveys, 3D scanning, Horizontal and vertical control surveys, construction layout, residential and commercial properties, Topographic surveys, aerial ground control surveys, Boundary and ALTA surveys.
