Thomson Surveying, Ltd., a full-service Land Surveying firm located in Rosemont, IL, has an immediate opening for a Survey Crew Chief with 3-5 years of survey experience in the south suburban region. This position involves experience in all survey-related projects. Field work includes construction layout, topographic surveys, subdivision development, and ALTA Land Title Surveys. Working knowledge and experience with state and regional regulations are required. Job sites vary in the Chicagoland area, specifically in the southern suburbs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Experienced with construction layout as well as reading and understanding plans
• Perform ALTA Land Title Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Route Surveys
• Manage field activities and crew personnel professionally and efficiently
• Review and follow project scope; maintain clear and accurate field notes and electronic data
• Act as a field liaison with client representatives and Project Manager

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois driver’s license
• Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision once trained
• Work efficiently, multi-task, and perform in a deadline-driven environment
• Expertise with GPS and Robotic Survey Equipment
• Understanding of construction layout, topographic and boundary surveys, ALTA Land Title Surveys, and subdivisions
• General knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and clear communication skills
