Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

Atlas is currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Survey Crew Chief. The successful candidate will operate and utilize a variety of Survey equipment (Total station, GNSS, data collectors, digital levels) and software applications for survey duties (Open Roads, Geopak, Trimble Business Center, and AutoCAD).

Atlas Survey Department performs land boundary, cartographic, topographic, photogrammetric (aerial) and geodetic surveys, prepares legal description of property, easements and annexations of Company-related facilities for public transportation entities, engineering firms, and private clients.

Survey Crew Chief duties:

· Perform work as project surveyor/party chief as per the directive of Survey Manager.

· Develop and maintain field survey data.

· Develops sketches, maps and plan & profile drawings using computer-aided drawing/drafting (CADD).

· Implements project quality control from department manual. Implementation of the project safety and project environmental programs.

· Conducts existing conditions survey, construction layout and staking.

· Provides project completion documentation including "As-Built" records.

· Works with Survey Manager in development and training of junior surveyors.

· Meet project deadlines and budgets given to each assignment.

· Performs edits to field files before office processing.

· Manage survey crew member’s daily activities.

· Ability to work on multiple projects.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, bachelor’s degree .
  • Strong algebra and coordinate geometry (COGO) skills.
  • Must be in good physical health to work full shift outdoors.
  • Able to travel and stay overnight as necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving history.
  • Proficient in use of survey equipment (Trimble experience is ).
  • Proficiency with IDOT Survey Manual and survey codes.
  • Proficient in the use of “line-of-sight” and RTK GPS methods of field surveying.
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience on a survey crew or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability as a crew chief.
  • Interpret and review Engineering / Architectural drawings.
  • Proficient in field layouts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and staff.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD and OpenRoads.
  • Basic skill in writing legal descriptions.
