Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Midtown, NY is seeking a Relief Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department. The role pays $22.19 - $30.36 per hour, depending on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will support nursing care for surgical patients, monitor vital signs, assist during procedures, and communicate with clients regarding estimates and discharge instructions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team goal.
• Rotating on-call schedule required after training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nursing care to surgery patients per hospital standards.
• Perform exams and monitor vital signs.
• Stock and clean surgical areas and maintain supplies.
• Monitor medications and therapeutic responses.
• Perform radiography and basic lab work.
• Engage with clients during appointments and provide discharge instructions.
• Stay current with CPR guidelines as assigned.
