Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NYC is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team during the front-half of the week!

We offer a pay range of $22.50 - $32.80 per hour plus competitive shift differentials based on experience and an assessment tool. Per diem scheduling and night/weekend differential opportunities provide additional compensation. This role involves triage, diagnostics, ICU care, discharges, and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT.
• Perform radiography and lab work.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instruction.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
