Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Golden Valley, MN is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant for our fast-paced Surgery Department. The role involves assisting veterinarians with surgical planning, diagnostics, patient prep, surgery, discharge, and client communication.

The position offers on-site shifts, a starting pay of $19–$28 per hour with on-call rotations and shift differentials for nights/weekends, plus extensive training and growth opportunities within the BluePearl network.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of veterinary medicine experience.

Responsibilities

• Advance your veterinary skills with on-the-job training.
• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy and run bloodwork.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Assist and scrub into surgeries including GDV, FHO, TPLO, total hip replacements, etc.
