Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery team. The role features weekday shifts, 4x10s, with occasional on-call expectations. Starting pay ranges from $21.25 to $31.00 per hour, depending on experience and competency assessment results.

We offer competitive shift differentials for eligible hours worked at night and on weekends. The hospital provides comprehensive benefits and ongoing training to help you grow within the surgery

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to stable patients in line with hospital standards.
• Ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Ability to monitor vital parameters and alert veterinarians as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exams and monitors vital signs and fluid therapy.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate and troubleshoot IV fluid pumps and connect/disconnect patients aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and alert doctor with concerns.
