The role involves nursing care for stable patients, IV catheter placement, patient monitoring, and assisting with fluid therapy. A minimum of two years in a veterinary hospital is preferred, with a rotating on-call schedule after training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Ability to monitor vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal.
• Comfort with operating intravenous fluid pumps and setting up IV fluids.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams and monitor heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate and troubleshoot IV fluid pumps and maintain aseptic connections.
