Job summary

Carle Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. This 43-bed unit provides postoperative and high-acuity surgical care, including ostomy and wound management, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

The role involves complete patient assessment, care planning, and close collaboration with surgical residents and OMFS. Sign-on bonus and relocation support are offered for external applicants meeting RN qualifications.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) per Illinois IDFPR; BLS within 30 days (AHA).
• H.S. Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
• Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
• Maintains up-to-date documentation of nursing care for the healthcare team.
• Completes initial assessment upon admission and develops an appropriate plan of care.
• Implements plan of care and nursing interventions; modifies as needed.
• Ensures patient and employee safety; reports/cowers safety hazards.
• Communicates with others and provides feedback for professional development.
• Provides postoperative care for complex surgical patients; manages new tracheostomies and wounds including wound vac and ostomies.
• Collaborates with surgical residents and OMFS residency services.
