Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Clinical Nurse for the Surgical Trauma Critical Care Unit. You will provide skilled, evidence-based nursing care on a fast-paced, 36-hour week shift with 12-hour rotations; be part of a dedicated, interdisciplinary team delivering top-tier trauma and surgical care.

Requirements include NC RN licensure, BLS, and one year of nursing experience. ACLS preferred; education includes Board-approved nursing program with ongoing BSN/MSN development.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must enroll within four years and obtain a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a Master's degree in Nursing within seven years.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• One year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
• Coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.
• Participate in education programs based on identified learning needs.
• Assess readiness to learn of patient and family/caregivers and tailor education.
• Identify expected patient outcomes and communicate with the interdisciplinary team.
• Organize and prioritize care and collaborate for discharge planning.
• Support intra/interdepartmental teamwork and improve unit goals.
